Freelance Sphere earns money from some of the links on this site. This page explains exactly how that works, which links are involved, and what it means for you.

We would rather tell you plainly than bury it in a privacy policy.

The short version

Some links on this site are affiliate or referral links. If you click one and go on to buy something or sign up, we may be paid a commission by the company at the other end.

It never costs you a penny more. The price you pay is the same as it would be if you had gone to the site directly. The commission comes out of the seller's margin, not your pocket.

Freelance Sphere is a participant in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk.

As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

The books we recommend on this site are Amazon links.

Which links earn us something

Not every outbound link on Freelance Sphere is an affiliate link. Many are plain links to tools we think are worth knowing about, and they earn us nothing at all.

The ones that currently do earn a commission are:

• Amazon book recommendations, through the Amazon EU Associates Programme
• Fiverr, through their affiliate programme
• TestingTime, through their referral programme

Where a link is to a referral scheme that pays us in account credit rather than cash, we treat it the same way for the purposes of this page. You should assume any link to a product or service may benefit us in some form.

What this does not change

Being paid a commission does not buy a recommendation.

• We are not paid to write positively about anything, and no company on this site has been given approval over what we say about them.
• We recommend tools we would use, or do use, as freelancers ourselves.
• Where something has a genuine drawback, we say so, whether or not the link earns us anything.
• A product does not get included because it pays better, and it is not excluded because it pays nothing. Several of the tools we recommend most often earn us absolutely nothing.

If that ever stops being true, this page will change before the recommendations do.

Why we do it at all

Freelance Sphere is free to read, has no paywall, and does not run display advertising or sell your data. Affiliate commission is what covers the cost of running it. If you find something here useful and you use one of our links, it genuinely helps, and we are grateful.

If you would rather not, that is completely fine. Search for the product directly and you will get exactly the same thing.
